Study in Finland - Key Information
Application Process & Fees
Application Fee: €100 (one fee for multiple universities)
Acceptance Letter: After acceptance, sponsor documents are required.
Sponsor Requirements: Sponsor must show a minimum of €560 per month for 12 months (€7,000 in total). In BDT, this is approximately 10 to 11 lakh Taka.
FDR: Accepted as proof of funds. Sponsor can be anyone willing to transfer funds to the student's account.
Tuition Fees
Payment Deadline: Tuition fee is to be paid within 10 to 15 days of receiving the offer letter (specific amount mentioned in the acceptance letter).
Tuition Fee:
Per Year: Approximately €9,000. (Sometimes More, University tuition increases every year)
Early Bird Scholarship: Available for some programs.
LUT University: €12,000 per year.
HAMK Häme University of Applied Sciences: For one semester, the fee is for 6 months of tuition.
Visa Requirements
Visa Process:
Documents: After receiving the acceptance letter, sponsors' documents must be submitted.
Interviews: VFS will conduct the interview, and a representative from the Finland embassy will be present.
Living Expenses: Must be covered by the sponsor.
Tuition Fee: Must be paid before the visa application.
Sponsor's Documents
Bank Statement: 6-month statement with a balance of 40-50 lakh BDT.
FDR (Fixed Deposit Receipt): Accepted; funds must be transferred to the student's account.
Tuition Fee Payment: The student can pay from their own account as well.
Income Source: Proof of income is required.
For Business Owners: Business license required.
For Employed Individuals: Job certificate required.
Minimum Income Requirement:
Employee: Minimum income of 1 lakh BDT per month.
Business Owner: No income limitation.
Salary Statement: 6 months' salary statement is helpful.
Work Opportunities
Part-Time Work: Students can work part-time (up to 20 hours per week, though many work more) in jobs like:
Delivery Jobs
Restaurant and Catering Jobs (if they know English)
Post-Graduation Opportunities
PR: After completing 4 years of study, students are eligible for Permanent Residency (PR).
Citizenship: After 5 years, students may apply for citizenship.
Transfer Opportunities
Germany or USA: Students who complete 60 credits in the Bachelor's program can transfer to universities in Germany or the USA (only for Bachelor's programs).
Vocational Institutions: International students can transfer to vocational institutions, which are free of charge.
Living in Finland
Weather: Cold weather is common.
Post-Visa Process: After visa approval, a resident card will be mailed to Bangladesh. The student will need to show their passport to pick it up from VFS in Bangladesh.
